Ordinary Seaman Advancement Program

Ordinary Seaman Advancement Program – This program is designed to attract and retain personnel with significant experience related to deck operations, with the goal of employing, training, mentoring and assessing those employees to the point where they are employable as Able Seaman. Participants serve as Ordinary Seaman in the deck department aboard MSC civil service crewed ships. Each must complete training required for Able Seaman, including STCW and Basic Safety Training (BST) which includes: Basic Fire Fighting, Personal Survival, Personal Safety and Social Responsibility, and Elementary First Aid. Participants must complete requisite sea service, navigation watches and RFPNW assessments required for Able Seaman. They must also apply for and obtain USCG credentials including a Merchant Mariner’s Document / Credential (MMD/MMC) endorsed AB-Special (minimum) and a STCW Form endorsed RFPNW/Able Seaman.

Entry-level endorsement.
