The Pumpman assists licensed engineers in the liquid cargo fuel line-ups, tank line-ups, product requirements, and any ballasting requirements. Primary duties include operating, maintaining, and repairing the vessels liquid cargo transfer system machinery and equipment. Incumbent is fully capable of handling, operating, and maintaining gas freeing and tank cleaning equipment and capable of sounding tanks using both innage and ullage, and electronic gauge tapes. Applicant is capable of determining oil water interface levels.
MMD/MMC Requirements
Pumpman or qualified member of the engine department, any unlicensed rating in the engine department and hold the endorsement of Tankerman Assistant or higher. Tankerman Assistant endorsement could be waived if applicant meets other position requirements.
