The Second Electrician performs routine maintenance, repair, and operation of ship’s electrical systems. This includes but is not limited to various types of switchboards, generators, motors, lighting systems, electrical deck cargo handling equipment, two and three wire direct current systems, and single-phase and polyphase alternating current systems. Assists and participates in the safety testing and maintenance of portable shipboard electrical equipment.
Electrician or qualified member of the engine department of any unlicensed rating.
